Have I mentioned that Shane is a special kid? Yes he is special. He is thoughtful, thorough, sensitive, loving, peaceable... I could go on. Lately Shane has been into collecting things. He doesn't collect normal things. He collects, well, interesting things. He is really into chicken bones right now. He always asks me if I am buying a chicken soon because he wants to collect the bones. He is branching out to pits from fruit. He wants the apricot pit, the plum pit... you get the picture. He LOVES bugs. He is the kid who goes outside and chases butterflies. He is the kid who lets queen ants crawl all over his hands. The other day he couldn't stop talking about a spider he found on a flower outside. I didn't think much of it until Kevin told me that Shane found a white spider on a white daisy. The crazy thing is that this spider made this flower its home. Shane would check on it at different times during the day and the spider would be there, on the flower. When he asked me to go and visit it with him, he was very serious about me being quiet as to not scare his friend away. Shane likes to collect dried beans, pieces of grain, string and anything else that is tiny. The other day he told me he wants to be a news reporter. He asked, "Mom, is that an important job?" Anything this kid chooses to do in his life, he will do it well, and as his mom, it is all I could ever ask for. I love you my sweet Shane.

Yesterday he asked if he could help me find the weeds in the lawn? I tell you what, the little guy pays a lot of attention to detail. He could spot a dandelion in the grass a mile away. I guess that is consistent with finding small insects? Anyway, he asked me again this morning if he could go out and help me find weeds today? I told him this afternoon I would be digging some up in the upper back yard...and he got excited...I luv you little guy...
